Aakash Chopra is worried about the Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2022 lineup, predicting that the team will miss the playoffs.

In the previous several editions of the IPL, the Capitals have developed as being one of the best sides. Their commitment to youth paid off handsomely, and they had to let go of their most young talents ahead of the IPL big auction in 2022.

In IPL 2022, Aakash Chopra was doubtful well about Delhi Capitals starting off to a good start. He went on to say:

“I’m a little concerned about this group. They have a good chance of losing two of the first three games. You can’t rule out the chance if they lose three out of three. Someone may win you a game with a one-man show, but this does not inspire confidence in your squad.”

The Delhi Capitals squad, according to Aakash Chopra, is built on promise rather than proven results. Chopra elaborated:

“In the lower order, Rovman Powell is an unknown commodity. Several names are connected with promise rather than accomplishment; whether it’s Kona Bharat, Rovman Powell, or Sarfaraz Khan, they are not certain to succeed.”

The Capitals, captained by Rishabh Pant, will be missing Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh until April 5, as he will be playing for his country in the limited-overs series against Pakistan.

Apart from him, David Warner will likely miss three matches for his franchise due to the late Shane Warne’s funeral on March 30.

Aakash Chopra, a former Indian batter who now works as a commentator, believes that the inability to get some of Delhi’s best international players could put the team in trouble.

Since Mitchell Marsh isn’t accessible, you’ll have to settle for Yash Dhull, Kona Bharat, or Mandeep Singh. “These aren’t like-for-like substitutes,” Chopra said on Star Sports’ “Game Plan.”

“You don’t have Shikhar (Dhawan) and you also don’t have Shreyas Iyer.” So, based on the batting order and the outside players’ availability, I believe Delhi is in trouble. Aakash went on to say, “When they start, they don’t start strong.”

The Delhi Capitals have made the playoffs in each of the last three IPL seasons. They’ll be hoping to keep up the momentum and even better it by winning the trophy for the first time.
