Munaf Patel, a former India bowler, believes that the BCCI must look after Umran Malik and that he’d be inducted into the team so that he can learn about the culture and different scenarios.
Umran Malik is among Indian cricket’s most promising young players, and his skills in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 have indeed been outstanding.
Munaf Patel, a former India bowler, believes the BCCI should try to bring Umran into the national team so he can learn the culture.
“The BCCI also shouldn’t delay until he has proven himself in the domestic circuit before bringing him into the Indian team.” If you choose, you can make him the team’s 17th soldier, but you must bring him too.”
“If he remains with everybody, he will understand the culture and changes that are taking place, as well as how to adjust. In his editorial for The Indian Express, Munaf Patel stated, “It is that has to be done.”
“Social media is not as prominent as it is now when I first appeared on the scene, and there were plenty of buzzes. If someone arrives from a tiny town with limited facilities, this is a natural response. Umran has manifested himself in the same way as I have. You should look after him properly. Only if the BCCI does that will he stay long ” Munaf Patel Added.
Umran’s workload needs to be managed: Munaf Patel
Munaf also stated that Umran’s workload must be regulated and that if he is overworked, he risks suffering a serious injury.
“Of course, technology has progressed in terms of rehabilitation and training, but you will still need to look after him. If you use him too much, he is likely to incur a serious injury, which will force him to slow down. However, he is currently bowling like soney pe suhaaga “ Munaf Added.
Umran Malik has taken 15 wickets, with his best stats coming in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s previous match against Gujarat Titans.
