Former India bowler RP Singh is concerned with Umran being fast-tracked. He believes Umran should remain with the team and be mentored.

Umran Malik, one of the surprises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has wowed everyone with his speed and accurate yorkers. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowler has been consistently clocking 145 kmph and has increased his effectiveness with each match.

Umran took a five-for in the league stage match against Gujarat Titans (GT), which kept SRH in the game. GT returned heroically to clinch the match only after his spell had been completed.

Umran has now taken 15 wickets in IPL 2022, putting him in second place on the list of most wicket-takers. Because of his performances in the IPL, the right-arm bowler is expected to make the T20I selection for the upcoming home series against South Africa, and he may even fly to Australia for the T20 World Cup.

‘Umran Malik is surely an exciting talent’: RP Singh

Former India bowler RP Singh, on the other hand, is averse to Umran being fast-tracked. Umran must be managed to keep with the team and trained, according to a member of the 2007 T20 World Cup-winning side who spoke to Cricbuzz.

However, he rejects his fast-tracking because the bowler has not yet featured in much domestic cricket or the IPL.
“Umran Malik is unquestionably a promising young man. He should be retained on the team so that you may continue to develop him while maintaining the strength of your bench. You never know who you’ll need or when you’ll need them.”

“But do you want to play him straight away? “I am not in favor of that because he hasn’t played much domestic cricket and has only recently begun to do well in the IPL,” Singh told Cricbuzz.

“His economy rate was really low, but he has improved it to approximately eight in a previous couple of games.”

“He’s on his way to becoming a better bowler, and if he sticks with the squad and bowls in the nets against world-class bowlers, he’ll get that fine-tuning done. You can keep him on the team in the future, but it’s probably too soon for him to play

Umran Malik appears to be on his way to earning his first India call-up, and he might make his debut against South Africa in June.
