Ravindra Jadeja’s decision to quit as skipper of the Chennai Super Kings halfway through the IPL 2022 is a commendable choice, according to former Chennai Super Kings spin bowler Imran Tahir, and reflects the all-rounders ‘baddapan or magnificence.
Days before the current season began, Jadeja took up the captaincy from the iconic MS Dhoni.
The all-leadership rounder’s career got off to a shaky start, with four straight losses and only two wins in eight games. His appearance deteriorated as well. During the eight games, the left-hander only took five wickets and scored 112 runs.
In the remaining games, Tahir recognized the all-grandeur rounder’s in the movie, stating it would empower him to showcase his game style. According to the South African leg-spinner,
“I think it’s an excellent idea.” It’s an honor to be in charge of such a large franchise. As we all know, Jadeja is a world-class player; I referred to him as ‘Zoro’ since he is a multi-talented person.”
“However, as a skipper, he was unable to duplicate that success. So I believe it is a testament to his greatness that he stood aside and handed the team’s leadership to Dhoni Bhai. It doesn’t bother me. It may relieve some of Jadeja’s strain, allowing him to focus on his natural game.”
‘Mahi Bhai will have a big role to play: Imran Tahir
Imran Tahir said that, aside from concentrating on his own game, he wanted the team to play “excellent, confident cricket” for the rest of the tournament under Dhoni, whom he appreciates. Imran Tahir stated,
“MS Dhoni has been one of the best leaders in the world, and he has led this squad for many years. It’s a fantastic thing. There was no need for Jadeja to be discouraged since he didn’t perform well. He most likely believed that regardless of where they finished, the side should at least play strong, confident cricket in the remaining matches, and Mahi Bhai would play a key role in that.”
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face the Super Kings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday.
