IPL 2022: "Ishan Kishan Is Available To Play Against Rajasthan Royals"- Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan, the director of cricket at Mumbai Indians confirmed on Friday that Ishan Kishan would be available for the IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday in the pre-match press conference.

Kishan had an injury scare while batting against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai Indians’ first game of the season. Kishan was hit on his toes while batting by a Shardul Thakur Yorker. He did not keep wickets for the most part of the DC’s innings as young Aryan Juyal kept wickets in Kishan’s absence.

Ishan Kishan Is An Important Part Of The Playing XI

Kishan played a great knock of 81 runs against DC and helped MI post a competitive score on the board. Without Kishan’s innings Mumbai might have ended up with a below-par score. MI camp would have been worried about the scale of Kishan’s injury as Suryakumar Yadav too could not play in the first game due to an injury.

Mumbai had spent more than 15 crores in the Mega Auctions to get Kishan back on the team, they therefore would not have wanted Kishan to miss any games because of an injury.

Luckily for MI, they had sufficient time between their first two games which has given Kishan enough time to recover from his injury. This is something that Zaheer also acknowledged as he told the media, “He (Kishan) is absolutely fine. We have taken the necessary actions. He has been practicing regularly and we had a gap in between so that has also helped him.”

Before the start of the tournament MI captain, Rohit Sharma had stressed that he was excited to open the innings with Kishan. Kishan has a fantastic record as an opener in the IPL, so MI would hope that Kishan continues to give a good start at the top.

Kishan was struggling for form at the top of the order against the West Indies as he was troubled by Roston Chase throughout the course of the series but he returned to form with a stunning knock against Sri Lanka. He carried the same form into the first game of the IPL and MI would be hoping that Kishan continues to play in the same way and stays away from any injuries.
