IPL 2022: It Has Taken A Couple Of Days To Digest What Happened: Shane Watson

Former Rajasthan Royals skipper and current assistant coach of Delhi Capitals, Shane Watson in a video released by DC said that it took a couple of days for the franchise to get over the controversy that erupted against Rajasthan Royals in the last over of the match.

Rajasthan Royals had scored a big total. Delhi Capitals were in the chase for the most part of the game. They needed 36 runs off 12 balls with a set Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell batting. But a brilliant penultimate over where Prasidh Krishna bowled a maiden over and took the wicket of Lalit Yadav changed the complete momentum of the game.

Rovman Powell Has Got A Lot Of Potential: Shane Watson

In the last over, Rovman Powell dared to chase an impossible task of hitting 6 sixes in an over to win the game for DC. He started the over well as he hit fellow West Indian Obed McCoy for 3 consecutive sixes in the final over. But then erupted a controversy which nobody saw coming.

The third delivery of the over was a high full-toss which the DC camp believed was a no-ball and wanted the on-field Umpires to go upstairs to check the height of the ball. But umpires couldn’t refer the decision to the third umpire because of the limitations of the rules.

Rishabh Pant, DC captain was visibly upset about the call as he pointed towards Kuldeep Yadav and Powell and wanted them to come back. Pravin Amre, the batting coach of the side even went inside the stadium to talk to the umpires. The little sequence had little effect on the game as Powell wasn’t able to connect the rest of the balls in the over and DC eventually lost the game.

“It’s taken a day or two to be able to just digest what happened in the last game and work through that situation and make sure that we just do all the things that we possibly can to make sure our ship’s pointed in the right direction,” said Watson in a clip shared by DC on social media.

“It’s exciting for Rovman and for Delhi Capitals. He has got incredible power, he has got an incredible skill and he has shown this on the international stage as well for the West Indies a number of times,” he further added on the prowess Powell possesses.

Delhi Capitals are currently in the bottom half of the table. They would hope to forget the last game and would want to move forward.
