IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals opening batter Prithvi Shaw has revealed that he had fun while opening the innings with David Warner in their game against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.

The swashbuckling opener from Mumbai was opening with Warner for the first time in the Indian Premier League. It didn’t look like Shaw was the younger partner and Warner the experienced one. Shaw took the bowlers to the cleaners in the powerplay.

Delhi Capitals scored 52 runs in the powerplay out of which, Shaw alone scored 47 runs. Shaw scored 67 runs from 34 balls in the game, but his innings went in vain as LSG won the game.

I Have Been A Fan of How David Warner Strikes The Ball: Prithvi Shaw

David Warner returned to the Delhi franchise after a gap of 9 years. Warner started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils. His return was not particularly good as he lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi for 4 runs.

But despite that Shaw felt nice while batting with Warner, Shaw said “Warner has been playing international cricket for more than 10 years and I have been a fan of the way he strikes the ball. I love to watch a batter hit sixes and fours from the non-striker’s end. It was great fun to bat with him against LSG and once we form a good understanding, it’ll be even better to bat with him.”

Delhi has lost 2 out of the 3 games that they have played and are in a spot of bother. The return of their premier fast bowler Anrich Nortje wasn’t particularly good either. But Shaw isn’t fazed by these things, as he said, “It’ll take time for all the players to get to know each other on the field. Today we got to know what the team can do. Even though we didn’t have enough runs on the board, we fought till the end and everyone was together. We just need to make a few small corrections and we will be fine.”

Delhi Capitals will be facing Kolkata Knight Riders in their next encounter and they would hope that the senior players of the side step up.
