IPL 2022: KL Rahul's Selection Of Shots Has Been Outstanding - Kevin Pietersen

Former England player Kevin Pietersen said Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul totally plays orthodox cricket shots.
With 374 runs in nine innings in IPL 2022, Rahul is currently the second-most run-getter in the tournament behind Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler (499).
The LSG captain scored successive hundreds against five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians this season.

Pietersen was left in awe with Rahul’s stroke play and lauded the Karnataka player for shot selection.
“He’s been outstanding. The best part about KL Rahul’s batting is that nothing is agricultural in his cricketing shots. Every shot that he plays is a proper textbook stroke,” Pietersen said on Star Sports.
“So what he has actually told you with his shot-making skills is that you don’t have to manufacture shots. If you’ve got the shots, use them and the selection of his shots has been outstanding,” he added.

While analyzing the range of shots Rahul can play around the field, Pietersen called him a 360° player. The former Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) captain said one can glue to the TV screens and watch Rahul bat the whole day.
“He has a wide range of shots in his armoury. So he can hit you over back-foot point, he can slice you for a six. He can hit you over extra-cover, he can hit you down the ground, and he can pick you over midwicket,” the former England batter said.
“So, he really is a 360-degree batter. I mean, he’s a breath of fresh air. You can switch on the TV and watch him bat all day,” he added.
LSG defeated Punjab Kings by 20 runs on Friday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
LSG managed to successfully defend their moderate score of 153 as Krunal Pandya bowled a brilliant spell of 2/11 from four overs. LSG moved up to the third place in the IPL 2022 points table.
