Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, has praised Sanju Samson as one of the best T20 players, adding that keeping him in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2022 season was a no-brainer.

After making his IPL debut for the franchise in 2013, Samson will captain Rajasthan Royals for the second season in a row.

He has grown in size over the years, and his impressive batsmanship in the last two seasons earned him a recall to the Indian side for the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka at home.

Sangakkara, the Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket and head coach, praised the youngster’s destructive batting and termed him a match-winner during the Clubhouse talk on Red Bull Cricket. He also complimented his captaincy skills.

“Regardless of whether he is the captain or the future of RR, he is one of the best T20 players,” remarked the head coach.

“He is a terrific player, destructive, match-winner, and possesses all of the qualities that a batter should possess.” Before I took over last season, he was captain. I’ve grown to respect and admire him as a person. He’s quite enthusiastic about RR. He started here, and he appreciates it.”

“He’s a captain who’s not afraid to say that he doesn’t know everything and that he’ll learn as he goes. He’s born with natural leadership skills. He’ll keep getting better and better.
