IPL 2022: Look Forward To Sharing The Dressing Room With Ravichandran Ashwin, Says Jos Buttler

England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler said that he is looking forward to play alongside Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in IPL 2022.

On Day 1 of the two-day mega auction event, Rajasthan Royals bought Ashwin for INR 5 crores after facing very short competition from Delhi Capitals in the bidding for the Tamil Nadu player.

The cricket fans will be fascinated to see the combination of Ashwin and Buttler sharing the dressing room together.

Let us go back to IPL 2019, when Ashwin was leading Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in a match against Rajasthan Royals. Ashwin.

Buttler was leading Rajasthan’s chase of 185 against Punjab on a sluggish track of Jaipur. Buttler hit 10 fours and a couple of sixes to race his score to 69 from 43 balls at the strike rate of 160.46.

At that point, it seemed like the England wicketkeeper-batter would take Royals to the finish line only before Ashwin ran him out at the non-striker’s end.

Just before Ashwin was about to deliver the penultimate ball of the 13th over to Sanju Samson, the then Punjab skipper dislodged the bails before releasing the ball as Buttler was out of the crease. The England player was adjudicated out by the third umpire.

The dismissal brought back the Mankad act and gave experts across the globe to stick to either side of the debate.

Three years after that wicket, Ashwin and Buttler will have a chance to not only reunite but also strengthen their bond for the coming years.

The England gloveman welcomed Ashwin in a heartwarming gesture and joked that he is inside the crease.

“Hey Ash, Jos here. Don’t worry I am inside the crease, cannot wait to see you in pink for the Royals. Look forward to sharing the dressing room with you,” Buttler said in a video posted on Rajasthan Royals official Twitter handle.

Ashwin will join the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult and Buttler in the Rajasthan camp.
