The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) will be held entirely in Mumbai and Pune from March 26 to May 29 and hence a month before the tournament commences, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray paid a visit to the iconic Wankhede Stadium to check on how the preparations are going on.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL governing council on February 25, 2022, confirmed that four venues across Mumbai and Pune will host the 70 matches of league stages of the IPL 2022 edition. It also confirmed that the 10 participating teams were divided into two groups.

As many as 55 matches of the league stage will be played across three venues in Mumbai while 15 remaining games will be played at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The venues in Mumbai are Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and the DY Patil Stadium.

Aaditya Thackeray Visits Wankhede Stadium To Check The Preparations For IPL 2022

The Group A teams are Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Group B consists of teams like defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Gujarat Titans (GT).

The Wankhede Stadium is an iconic ground in Mumbai and in order to make sure that everything is perfect, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray visited the historic Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Along with this, he reviewed the preparations for IPL 2022, which starts next month.

A member of the Apex Council of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has told PTI that today Minister Aaditya Thackeray visited the Wankhede Stadium and the Mumbai Cricket Association/BCCI office and took stock of the arrangements for the upcoming IPL 2022.

He was accompanied by BCCI CEO and IPL CEO Hemang Amin, Mumbai T20 League Chairman Milind Narvekar and MCA Apex Council members Ajinkya Naik and Nadeem Memon.

“Maharashtra is delighted and proud to host  @IPL in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai & Pune. I visited the Wankhede Stadium today, as we are keen to ensure a smooth and safe tournament. We look forward to welcoming teams to महाराष्ट्र!,” Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.
