Ajit Agarkar along with Shane Watson have joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise ahead of IPL 2022. Both of them have played international cricket for a long time and have played the IPL for a long time as well. They will be assisting Ricky Ponting who is the head coach of the franchise.
Delhi Capitals have changed the core of the team has released several key players. Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis are no longer a part of the team. They have roped in David Warner and Mitchell Marsh who will add flesh to the batting unit.
Talking to Sportstar, Ajit Agarkar said that the management has done a good job at maintaining a good environment within the team with many new players joining the squad. He also hopes to contribute to a positive atmosphere.
“It’s been excellent to be in the Delhi Capitals camp. There are a lot of young players in the side. I could see from the outside that the DC management has created a nice environment around the team and that shows in the franchise’s success. There are a lot of new faces that have joined the team, including me, and it’s our responsibility that the good environment stays intact” Agarkar said.
He then opened up on working alongside Ricky Ponting and also recalled his duels with the former Australian captain.

“Ricky Ponting is a big factor behind a lot of people wanting to work in this team. I’ve been fortunate enough to play against him a few times, and I have also played IPL with him. I have known him for a long time. And I know how much the young players enjoy working with Ricky” Agarkar added.
The franchise kicks off its IPL 2022 campaign against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on March 27. Yash Dhull, Mandeep Singh, Srikar Bharat, Chetan Sakariya and Kamlesh Nagarkoti are some of the new Indian players who have joined the team this year.
