Former India pacer Zaheer Khan, who is Mumbai Indians’ director of cricket operations, has backed MI’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction strategy, asserting that he will not start doubting any individual after the team’s horrific run in the tournament.

In the 15th edition of IPL, Mumbai Indians (MI) have not yet registered a win despite playing 7 games and they have become the first team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to lose 7 back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, the mega auction strategy of the team came under the scanner after the failure of the Mumbai Indians in the tournament. Mumbai Indians bought Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan for INR 15.25 crore, Explosive batter Tim David for INR 8.25 crore and Jofra Archer for INR 8 crore.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has scored 191 runs, so far, in the tournament. Tim David was dropped from the team after a couple of games and Jofra Archer was unavailable for the IPL 2022 from the very beginning.

At a press conference, Mumbai Indians’ director of cricket operations, Zaheer Khan was asked about their strategy on England pacer Jofra Archer, who was not available for the IPL 2022.

Former Indian pacer deflected the question by saying that this was just a reaction to the poor performance of Mumbai Indians in the tournament and if they were having a good run nobody would have even bothered to ask about the investment in English pacer Jofra Archer.

Zaheer Khan further added that he will continue to back all individuals throughout the season and the culture of putting the blame on someone is not in Mumbai Indians.

I am not going to start doubting any individual. I will back them through and through and you will see that in this season as well,” Zaheer said.

Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in their 8th Indian Premier League 2022 game on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
