Rajasthan Royals have one title to their name that they won under the leadership of Shane Warne in the inaugural season. However, besides that, they have exhibited underwhelming performances for most of the editions in IPL. RR finished at second from the bottom of the table last year but they have backed Sanju Samson to continue leading the side in IPL 2022. Besides, they also retained the likes of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Much to the delight of the fans, the franchise has managed to compile a pretty strong squad this time around. They invested heavily in the bowling department. Rajasthan Royals shelled out INR 10 crores to buy the services of Prasidh Krishna. They also managed to get both Ravichandran Ashwin (5 crores) and Yuzvendra Chahal (6.50 crores) into the team.

Some of the other notable acquisitions include the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, Rassie van der Dussen etc. Heading into the start of IPL 2022, we have compiled our predicted playing XI of Rajasthan Royals. Here’s a look at that.

IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals Predicted Playing XI For The First Match Of The Tournament

Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler

Both were retained by the franchise prior to the start of the auctions. It is perhaps a smart move by retaining both the players, Jos Buttler adds experience to this batting unit. He will be responsible for providing quickfire starts at the top of the order.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the other hand, is the one for the future. The southpaw played some vital knocks while opening the innings for the team. He will be keen to make it to have a stellar season with the bat.

Middle-Order: Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer

With Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the innings, Devdutt Padikkal is likely to come at number three. It won’t be his preferred choice but he doesn’t really have any other option. Nevertheless, the southpaw would look to make the most of the opportunity. At number four has to be Sanju Samson.

The Rajasthan Royals captain showed great form in the previous edition of the tournament. He will look to replicate similar performances this time around as well. Rajasthan Royals have also managed to acquire the services of Shimron Hetmyer in the team. He will be tasked to finish the innings well for the side.

All-rounder: James Neesham and Riyan Parag

The presence of James Neesham and Riyan Parag will add much-needed depth to the batting line-up. Neesham can play the role of the finisher in the team and can also provide a few overs with the ball as well. Riyan Parag too has the ability to score big hits but needs to show a lot more consistency with the bat.

Bowlers: R Ashwin, Y Chahal, P Krishna, and Trent Boult

Rajasthan Royals have a superb bowling attack at their disposal. They have got two experienced Indian spinners in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Both are going to play massive roles with the ball for the franchise this season. Trent Boult will lead their fast bowling department and he will be supported by Prasidh Krishna, who too, has grown by leaps and bounds in the last couple of years.
