IPL 2022: Shane Watson Names Three Teams That Will Find Success This Season

Former Australian player Shane Watson named three IPL teams that will find great success this year in the IPL 2022 season.

On Saturday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by six wickets in the IPL 2022 opener in what was the team’s first match after Dhoni quit captaincy duties.

Dhoni played a phenomenal knock of 50 from 38 balls that powered CSK to a decent score of 131 in the first innings, he was involved in a 70-run stand with skipper Ravindra Jadeja. However, Dhoni’s tremendous innings went in vain as KKR chased the target with nine balls to spare.

Watson, who played for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and CSK, was roped in by Delhi Capitals as their assistant coach for this year. Apart from naming Delhi Capitals, Watson named two other teams for whom he represented in the IPL.

“Here are my predictions for a few of the best teams that I think are going to perform very well during this IPL. No.1 I am here with Delhi Capitals and they bought incredibly well during the auction. They got great balance, got some exciting talent youth and also some great overseas players (like) Mitchell Marsh, David Warner and Rovman Powell.

“I will be surprised if Delhi Capitals don’t really go well this season,” Watson said in a video uploaded on his Instagram handle. 

“Chennai Super Kings they always play well. They kept a lot of their core (players) together again, they are defending champions and I will be surprised if CSK don’t have a great season. 

“For the first time for me, RCB have bought incredibly well during this auction, there can be a little bit here and there in the auction but they bought amazingly well.

“Dinesh Karthik they bought, but for me the couple of overseas players they have bought very very well. Glenn Maxwell, they have retained but Faf du Plessis who is coming as captain is an amazing leader, great guy and great batsman. Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood are two amazing stars,” he added. 

IPL 2022 has 10 teams participating in the league stage with the inclusion of two additional teams – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans.
