IPL 2022: Stephen Fleming Feels Slog Overs Is The Right Time For MS Dhoni To Bat

IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings lost their 6th game of the season by 11 runs to Punjab Kings courtesy of a great knock by Shikhar Dhawan and some brilliant bowling by Arshdeep Singh and Kagiso Rabada. After the loss, Stephen Fleming, head coach of CSK talked about the game and revealed where his team lost the plot.
Ambati Rayudu’s brilliant 78 off 39 balls went in vain as Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni failed to give a finishing touch.
Punjab Kings Finished The Game Really Well: Stephen Fleming
Fleming in the post-match press conference said that his team was in the game for the most part of the match but PBKS finished the game well. “For the majority of the innings, we were in control. But they (PBKS) finished really well,” Fleming told the reporters.
“We lost a wicket in the 13th over, pretty close to when we have seen MS Dhoni come in the last 13 years. We had this discussion a lot, MS’ best time is from about 15 overs onwards and Jadeja has played some good innings for us from the stage, and we don’t throw that out based on 1-2 games,” he said.
Ambati Rayudu played brilliantly despite incurring an injury during the first innings, about that Fleming said, “It was just a case of icing that and getting that down and I think a little padding around the glove. It was the same hand that was broken sometime back, so it is still pretty tender and a knock like that can obviously cause some damage. But fortunately for us, it settled down he batted well.”
CSK would hope that things get back on track for them as they now have very little chances of qualifying in the playoffs.
