IPL 2022: Suryakumar Yadav Completes Quarantine Period, To Be Available For MI's 2nd Match Against Rajasthan Royals
Mumbai Indians (MI) received good news ahead of their second match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Star batter Suryakumar Yadav has completed his quarantine period and has joined the squad for training sessions.
He has been missing in action since sustaining a thumb fracture during the third T20I against West Indies in February. Having completed his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Suryakumar arrived at MI’s allotted hotel.
“Suryakumar exited his mandatory quarantine and joined the team (on Wednesday) for the gym session in the company of his mates, Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah. The mood in the camp is upbeat.”
“The team underwent a strength and conditioning session yesterday under the watchful eyes of Paul Chapman. The session involved weight and fitness training, with the focus on working on core fitness and building strength,” MI said in a statement.
MI’s first match didn’t go according to plan. Although their batters did a great job by putting up a fighting total of 177 on the board, MI’s bowling attack was torn apart by Delhi Capitals’ all-rounders.
Shardul Thakur, Lalit Yadav, and Axar Patel played stunning cameos which completely deflated MI. Pace spearhead Bumrah had a terrible outing, conceding 43 runs in just 3.2 overs. New recruit Tymal Mills had a decent game but the other bowlers failed to come to the party.
