Virat Kohli and his RCB boys were over the moon as the side qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2022. They needed Mumbai Indians to win against Delhi Capitals for them to qualify and it panned out exactly the same way. RCB will now face Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator in Kolkata on May 25. The final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

RCB were placed fourth on the points table with a NRR of -0.253 with 16 points. A win for Delhi Capitals would have taken them to the playoffs but Mumbai did a huge favour to RCB by beating DC in their final game.

Tim David’s cameo of 34 from 11 balls became the turning point of the game after Rishabh Pant did not use his review against the batsman early on in his innings.

Virat Kohli also scored a brilliant 73 in RCB’s last league game against GT and helped them win by 8 wickets. Kohli striking form must come as a huge relief for his side. Meanwhile, in a video shared by the RCB Twitter handle, Kohli and the other RCB players were seen rejoicing their qualification to the playoffs.

The former RCB skipper was quick to thank Mumbai Indians for doing a huge favour on his side. “It was unbelievable. The emotions in the change room were unbelievable, Thank You Mumbai…” Kohli said in the video.

It Was Unbelievable: Virat Kohli After RCB Made The Playoffs

This is the third consecutive year that RCB have made it to the playoffs after they played the final in 2016. They lost the Eliminator against KKR in 2021 and this time they face LSG in the knockout game. A loss in the Eliminator would end their campaign while a win awill take them to the second qualifier.

In the chase of 160, MI lost Rohit Sharma early but Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis kept MI ticking with a fine partnership. In the end, Tim David came and blasted 34 runs off just 11 balls to help MI reach the target with five balls to spare.
