IPL 2022: They Have Quite A Few Impact Players - Rajkumar Sharma Picks Two Contenders For The Title
Rajkumar Sharma opined that Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have plenty of match-winners amidst their ranks and are well suited to claim the IPL 2022 trophy.
Both teams won their first game in contrasting fashion. While Rajasthan pummelled Sunrisers Hyderabad into submission, PBKS had to work hard to cross the line against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Based on the number of impact players they have, Sharma felt that RR and PBKS can win the trophy.
“Punjab and Rajasthan are looking very strong this time. The formation of these teams is such that they have quite a few impact players. Both teams have at least 3-4 match-winners, who can win a contest on their own. These two sides can surprise any team on their day and look good to make the playoffs,” Sharma said.
“Too early to write SRH off” – Rajkumar Sharma
SRH failed to show up in their opening match against RR. Bowling first, they conceded 210 before their top-order crumbled and they eventually lost the match by 61 runs. There were no positives in the match but that doesn’t mean they are out of the reckoning, as per Sharma.
“SRH has played only one match and it will be too early to write them off. There were hopes that they would go with a better combination this time. But each think tank has its own plans. Let’s give them time and see if they can come up with a better strategy.”
“In T20, even 2-3 players can win you games. Say, if Kane Williamson bats 20 overs, he can make a big difference. Yes, SRH do not have many impact players, but let’s give them time,” Sharma added.
SRH will next play against newcomers, Lucknow Super Giants, who also ended up losing their first game.
