Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets in what turned out to be the best match of the tournament so far. Rahul Tewatia hit two consecutive sixes off the last two balls to win the game for his team when his team needed 12 runs off 2 balls.

This was not the first time Tewatia took a Punjab bowler to the cleaners as he had done the same to Sheldon Cottrel in that famous game in Sharjah playing for Rajasthan Royals at that time.

Gujarat Titans did not have the greatest of starts to their chase as they lost Matthew Wade early in their chase, but then Sai Sudharsan and Gill had a brilliant partnership in the middle. Sudarshan got out when GT needed 57 runs off 32 balls.

Hardik Pandya and Gill then tried to take the game deep but Gill got out for a well made 96 runs off 59 balls in the penultimate over. GT needed 19 runs off the last over and Miller was on the strike. The first ball was wide and then on the next ball Pandya got run out. It seemed all lost for GT but Tewatia had other plans in mind as he finished the game in the greatest of styles.

Earlier in the day Hardik Pandya won the toss and put Punjab Kings’ to bat. Mayank Agarwal failed yet again with the bat as he got out to Pandya trying to hit a pull shot in the 2nd over.

Jonny Bairstow playing his first match for Punjab couldn’t do much either as he got out for 8 runs.

Like in their last game, Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone had a good little partnership in the middle, but then Rashid Khan removed Dhawan to stall King’s progress.

But then Jitesh Sharma joined Livingstone in the middle and scored a quickfire 23 runs off 11 balls. But then PBKS lost wickets in the pile as first Darshan Nalkande, playing his first game in the IPL got two wickets in one over. Then Rashid Khan returned to remove Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan in one over.

At one point It looked as if PBKS would go well past 200 but Gujarat Titans pulled it back. A little cameo in the end by Rahul Chahar pushed PBKS’s score to 189.
