IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap After Match 31 LSG vs RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in the Match 31 of IPL 2022 courtesy of top performances from their captain Faf du Plessis and Australian pacer Josh Hazelwood.

Earlier in the day KL Rahul won the toss and chose to field first. Dusmantha Chameera proved his captains’ decision to bowl first right as he got Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli in the very first over.

Glenn Maxwell then tried to take on the bowlers and did it for a brief period as he raced to 23 runs but was dismissed by Krunal Pandya courtesy of a fantastic catch by Jason Holder.

Suyash Prabhudesai too was dismissed quickly. It was Shahbaz Ahmed once again who anchored the innings along with Faf du Plessis. They had a 70 run partnership in the middle which gave RCB the opportunity to put up a par total on the board.

Faf returned to form with 96 runs. For LSG, Jason Holder was the pick of the bowler as he picked up 2 wickets for just 25 runs in his 4 overs.

Lucknow did not have a great start to their chase as they too lost two quick wickets in the powerplay. Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul then had a little partnership in the middle but a brilliant review by RCB saw KL Rahul’s dismissal. Krunal Pandya scored 42 runs but he too got out in trying to push the scoring rate. After his dismissal, LSG just did not have the arsenal to chase the target. Hazelwood was the pick of the bowlers for RCB as he picked up 4 wickets in the game.
