Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to field first in the match and they made one change in the team by including Andrew Tye in the playing XI in place of Mohsin Khan.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on the other hand, made three big changes in the playing XI as Moeen Ali, Dwaine Pretorius, and Mukesh Choudhary replaced Kiwi all-rounder Mitchell Santner, Kiwi batter Devon Conway and Kiwi pacer Adam Milne, who had a side strain.

Chennai Super Kings, while batting first, were off to a flying start as the veteran batter Robin Uthappa smashed amazing boundaries in the first few overs. Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan leaked 14 runs in the first over and Dushmantha Chameera gave away 12 runs in the second over.

Pacer Andrew Tye bowled a good 3rd over as he gave away just 2 runs and in the same over Ruturaj Gaikwad got run-out for 1. However, Moeen Ali and Robin Uthappa went aggressive against the LSG bowling unit and smashed 11,18 and 16 runs in the next three overs to help Chennai Super Kings reach 73/1 at the end of the powerplay.

Robin Uthappa after adding 56 runs off 30 balls with Moeen Ali got dismissed on the 3rd ball of the 8th over, which was bowled by Ravi Bishnoi. Uthappa’s innings ended at the score of 50 runs off 27 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six.

Moeen Ali, after playing explosive innings, got castled by Avesh Khan on the 1st ball of the 11th over and he scored 35 runs off 22 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube were looking brilliant out in middle and they added 60 runs off 37 balls together before young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi castled Rayudu on the 2nd ball of the 17th over and Rayudu’s innings ended at 28 runs off 20 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Shivam Dube fell just one run short of a well-deserving half-century as he was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the 19th over for 49.

In the end, legendary captain MS Dhoni and current CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja smashed good boundaries and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished at 210/7.

Chasing the humongous target the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock provided the team with an excellent start. The LSG opening duo fell one run short of a century partnership as Dwaine Pretorius dismissed KL Rahul on the 2nd ball of the 11th over. Rahul’s innings ended at 40 runs off 26 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.

In the next over, which was bowled by Tushar Deshpande, Manish Pandey got dismissed for 5. Opener Quinton de Kock, who was batting cautiously, became Dwaine Pretorius’ second wicket of the match. De Kock before getting dismissed in the 15th over scored 61 runs off 45 balls, including 9 fours.

In the end, Evin Lewis played an exceptional knock of 55 runs and young Ayush Badoni provided him with great support to help the Lucknow Super Giants complete the humongous run-chase with 3 balls remaining.
