IPL 2022: Updated Points Table Orange Cap and Purple Cap After Match 70 SRH vs PBKS

The last league game of IPL 2022 was a dead rubber as neither Sunrisers Hyderabad nor Punjab Kings were in contention for a spot in the playoff.

Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore had already qualified for the playoffs. So both SRH and PBKS were looking to end their campaign on a winning note.

Punjab Was the happier side as they won the game by 5 wickets.

Earlier in the day, Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and decided to bat first. Priyam Garg got out early. But then Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma added 47 runs for the 2nd wicket.

But once Tripathi got out, SRH lost 4 wickets within 25 runs. In the slog overs, Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd had a 50+ partnership and pushed SRH’s score to 150+, SRH ended their innings at 157/8.

PBKS did not have the best of starts either as after getting a reprieve, Jonny Bairstow could not make it count as Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled him in the 3rd over. Shahrukh Khan then added some quick runs but he and Mayank Agarwal got out in quick succession.

But Liam Livingstone came all guns blazing as he hit 3 long sixes in his first 6 balls. In the end, he scored 49 runs off 22 balls.

Punjab won the game by 5 wickets with around 5 overs to spare.

The result of this match has absolutely no effect on the league. Punjab finished the season at the 6th spot while SRH at the 8th spot.

Jos Buttler leads the run charts at the end of the league stage of IPL 2022.

Updated Purple Cap:

Yuzvendra Chahal leads the wickets charts at the end of the league stage. Umran Malik finished the league with 22 wickets and in the 4th position.
