IPL 2022: Want Ravindra Jadeja To Be More In The Face, Have More Communication With His Boys - Ravi Shastri
Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri feels that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, Ravindra Jadeja, has not been as vocal as he should be after taking over the mantle from MS Dhoni.
Ahead of the new season, Jadeja was named the captain after Dhoni stepped down. The pressure to replicate Dhoni’s success is quite enormous and not something everybody can withstand.
“It does make a massive difference, you are replacing probably the best in the business and one of the best the IPL has ever had. It’s not easy to fill MS Dhoni’s boots. But what you want from Jadeja is to be involved and announce himself a lot more. I feel he is holding back.”
“I want him to be more in the face and have more communication with his boys and be more involved in the proceedings. These kinds of things early on are needed because once that body language beings to show, it will have an impact on the other players as well,” Shastri told ESPNcricinfo.
One way to do so for Jadeja will be to start having a chat with his teammates and be louder in the dressing room. Notably, Jadeja was hanging back in CSK’s game against Lucknow while Dhoni was pulling the strings.
If he has to shoulder the responsibility going forward, he will have to make tough decisions, especially during pressure situations. As of now, under his captaincy, CSK has lost all three matches.
