Lucknow franchise’s newly-announced captain KL Rahul took to social media to thank the franchise for giving him the opportunity to represent the city in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rahul was signed by the new franchise for a whopping INR 17 cr fee which equalled the record set in 2018 when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained Virat Kohli for the same fee ahead of the mega auction. He has also been given the responsibility to captain the side, something he did for the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Here’s what KL Rahul had to say:

Firstly, I would like to say what a huge honor it is to be part of the new Lucknow. I’d like to thank Dr. Sanjiv Goenka for giving me such a huge responsibility and showing faith in me. Glad to be part of the RPSG group. I’ll try to do my best for the people of Lucknow and play a brand of cricket that entertains everyone.

Along with Rahul, the franchise signed Australian all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis, and Indian uncapped player, Ravi Bishnoi. While Stoinis accepted the contract for INR 9.2 cr, Bishnoi hopped on for INR 4 cr.
