IPL 2022: Will Try To Learn Some Mystery Deliveries From Rashid Khan: Rahul Tewatia

Gujarat Titans all-rounder Rahul Tewatia said he would like to learn the art of bowling mystery spin deliveries from Afghanistan spin bowler Rashid Khan in the upcoming season of IPL 2022. Tewatia is someone who likes to toss the ball in the air for a huge amount of time than other spin bowlers.

The Haryana player has scalped 32 wickets in 48 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.71. Tewatia was bought by Gujarat Titans, the IPL debutants, for a big price of INR 9 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.

Rashid is threatened by opposition batters for his ability to unsettle them with quick googly deliveries and is also effective in the middle overs when it comes to blocking the flow of runs. Rashid claimed 93 wickets from 76 IPL games in his five-year (2017-2021) stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he ended up as the second most wicket-taker of the franchise after Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“I have shared the dressing room with many players of other teams, but I will be sharing the dressing room for the first time with Rashid Khan. I will be playing with him for the first time, so I’m looking forward to that eagerly,” Tewatia told TimesofIndia.com.

“Each player has his own strengths and skills and as far as learning is concerned, I try to learn from each and every cricketer. And Rashid Khan is a mystery bowler, so will try to learn some mystery deliveries from him,” he added.

Tewatia also said that Gujarat Titans have a blend of experience and youth at their disposal and all the players will strive to bring the IPL trophy in their maiden season.

“They (Gujarat Titans) have shown trust in me and picked me in their new team. With every team the motto is the same: win the trophy, it’s the same here. We will work hard match-by-match and concentrate on the process,” he said. 

“Sure, we have experienced players, young players from top to bottom. We have a nice team balance and we will ensure that we have a good tournament,” he added. 

Gujarat Titans will play their first match of IPL 2022 against fellow IPL debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 28 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
