Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the playoffs for the second consecutive season in the 2021 edition of IPL. Virat Kohli and Co. performed admirably in the league stage and finished at number three on the points table. However, they failed to clinch the title, after having lost to KKR in the Eliminator match.
Ahead of the next edition of the tournament, RCB have retained the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj. All three are valuable assets for the team and would look to contribute significantly in the upcoming edition. Ahead of the mega auctions, RCB have a lot of things to work out. Besides picking the new captain, they would also want to form a lethal pace attack.
They have got Mohammed Siraj in their ranks but who all will share the fast bowling duties with him remains to be seen. In this article, we have listed three pacers that Royal Challengers Bangalore will target at the auctions.

Jason Holder

If reports are to be believed, Royal Challengers Bangalore have kept a hefty sum of money for the former West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder. Holder’s multiple skill-sets could help him fetch a massive contract this year. He performed admirably with both bat and ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021.
The franchise, however, opted not to retain him for the next edition. Holder will be going under the hammer at the auctions and RCB are likely to bid heavily for him. He can be the guy who could share the new ball with M Siraj and also has the experience of bowling at the death. In his IPL career so far, Jason Holder has managed to pick 35 wickets in 26 matches at an average of 22.45.

Lockie Ferguson

Over the years, RCB have been on the lookout for bowlers who could bowl well in the death overs. They have tried a lot of options but haven’t found much success. M Siraj, unarguably, has improved by leaps and bounds but RCB would look to have more options as well.
New Zealand fast bowler, Lockie Ferguson could be the one who could do that job well. Ferguson exhibited his class in the second half of the IPL 2022 while playing for KKR. He finished with 13 wickets in just 8 games at a stellar average of 17.23. Despite bowling at the death overs, he finished with an excellent economy of 7.46.
Kolkata Knight Riders, unfortunately, had to release him, which means that he will be going under the hammer at the auctions. Royal Challengers Bangalore could be seen engaging in a bidding war for the New Zealand pacer at the auctions.
-
Mohammed Shami

Despite bowling well in the last two editions of IPL for Punjab Kings, the franchise opted not to retain Mohammed Shami for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The Indian pacer was brilliant, particularly in the death overs.
Shami will be available in the mega-auctions and the franchises are likely to bid heavily for him. Royal Challengers Bangalore could put their hands up to avail his services in a bid to another world-class Indian fast bowler in their set-up. It will further give them the option to play an extra overseas batter instead of a bowler. It will be interesting if RCB manage to acquire his services at the auctions.
