IPL Auction 2022: 3 Pacers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Will Target In The Mega Auction

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the consistent teams in the Indian Premier League. Barring last season, SRH managed to reach the playoffs in every edition since its debut. Things, however, didn’t go too well for them last year. They lacked application with both bat and ball.

David Warner endured his worst season with the bat and Sunrisers Hyderabad finished at the bottom of the points table with 3 wins in 14 matches. David Warner hasn’t been retained by the franchise, while Kane Williamson will lead the side next year as well.

Apart from Williamson, SRH retained two more young Indians, namely Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. Ahead of the mega-auctions, developing a potent bowling attack will be one of their biggest challenges. Dale Steyn has been appointed as the new fast bowling coach. He would look to compile a fierce fast bowling unit for the next edition of the tournament. 1. Trent Boult

To add variety in the pace attack, Sunrisers Hyderabad would look to target a left-arm seamer and there couldn’t be a better choice than Trent Boult. The New Zealand fast bowler has been brilliant for Mumbai Indians in the last two editions.

However, the franchise didn’t retain him, which means he will be available at the auctions. With Kane Williamson as the captain of the side, Sunrisers Hyderabad is likely to bid heavily for Trent Boult at the auctions.

2. Kagiso Rabada

With Dale Steyn as the bowling coach, Sunrisers Hyderabad could break their bank in order to acquire the services of Kagiso Rabada at the Mega Auctions. He had a sensational outing for Delhi Capitals during the 2020 edition of the tournament.

In 17 matches, he managed to pick 30 wickets at an average of 18.27. Rabada, however, didn’t make a similar impact in the following year and Delhi Capitals decided not to retain him for the 2022 edition of the tournament. The addition of Kagiso Rabada could help Sunrisers Hyderabad in forming a potent bowling attack. SRH should bid heavily for Rabada at the auctions.

3. Tim Southee

Tim Southee is a pacer who isn’t likely to get a lot of heavy bids. Though, Sunrisers Hyderabad can be one of the franchises that might do that. With Kane Williamson as captain, Tim Southee might receive the heaviest bid from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

There is no denying that Tim Southee has become a vastly improved T20 bowler. Southee picked 8 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at an outstanding economy of 6.5. Southee picked the most wickets in the T20 series in India which followed thereafter.

His ability to swing the ball early on with the new ball can entice Sunrisers Hyderabad to bid for him. Tim Southee has 31 wickets to his name in 43 matches in IPL.
