IPL Retention 2022 Live Updates On Retention List, Retained And Released Players, Live Telecast In India Time, Remaining Purse Value Of All 8 Teams. The IPL Retention 2022 is here with its twists and turns as the biggest franchise T20 league in the tournament enters its first stage of enlargement.

IPL 2022 is all set to be a mega-event as a total of 10 teams will be participating in the next edition of the cash-rich league. For the same, 2 new teams which include, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, have been added to the IPL set up and ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the current 8 teams will be releasing their retention list today.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had instructed the current 8 franchises to submit their list of retained players by 30th January as per the rules laid out by the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council. According to the rules, each of the eight teams had the option of retaining a maximum of four players. The 8 teams will be allowed to retain a maximum of three Indians and two overseas out of the 4 players. There won’t be any RTM cards allowed for the 8 franchises.

Once the current 8 teams release their retention list, the 2 new teams, Lucknow and Ahemadabad, will have the option for retaining 3 players each out of the released players by the current 8 teams. The 3 players will be a combination of a maximum of two Indians or two overseas. The Lucknow based franchise will be owned by the Sanjeev Goenka group while the Ahmedabad based franchise will be owned by the CVC Capital.

However, even before the inception, the Ahmedabad franchise looks in deep trouble as their owners, CVC Capital is being accused of being involved in sports betting. For the same, the IPL Governing Council will meet on December 03 to take a final call, on the ownership of the franchise and also the next media rights cycle.

Each of the 10 teams that will be a part of the IPL 2022 auction, had been given a pool of INR 90 Crores to spend on their retention and purchase of players. The teams that have retained four players in the IPL Retention 2022 will have 42 crores deducted from their purse and each team will have to name their players in the order of the salary purse.
