Jaydev Unadkat Bought By Mumbai Indians For INR 1.30 Crores In The IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat was bought by the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians on the second day of the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction for a sum of INR 1.30 crores. He had put his base price at INR 75 lakhs and saw a small bidding war between MI and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Before Saturday, across the first 14 editions of the IPL, only one Indian bowler had attracted a bid of more than Rs 10 crore at the IPL auction – Jaydev Unadkat in 2018 when Rajasthan Royals got him for Rs 11.5 crores.

Unadkat has played for five franchises: four seasons at the Knight Riders (2010-2011-12 and 2016), two seasons at the Delhi Daredevils (2014-15), one season each for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (2013) and Rising Pune Supergiant (2017) followed by the last four years with the Royals.

Unadkat had made his Indian Premier League debut as an uncapped 19-year-old in 2010, for the Kolkata Knight Riders, earning Rs 8 lakhs. He had one of the best seasons in IPL in 2017, when playing for Rising Pune Supergiant, he picked 24 wickets in 12 matches, including a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul.

He boasts of a good domestic record, even winning the Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. In 158 T20 matches, Unadkat has 195 wickets at an economy of 7.94 and best bowling figures of 5/25. He has two fifers in T20s. For India, he has played 1 Test, 7 ODIs and 10 T20I matches and picked a total of 22 wickets with a best of 4/41 in ODIs and 3/38 in T20Is.
