Jofra Archer's Old Tweet Goes Viral After Mumbai Indians Buy Him For 8 Crores In IPL 2022 Auction

Star England pace bowler Jofra Archer’s old tweet went viral after he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Sunday, February 13 at Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru.

Jofra Archer had set INR 2 crore as his base price for the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction. Mumbai Indians and Archer’s former team Rajasthan Royals were furiously bidding for the England pacer and his price quickly went past INR 5 crore. After the INR 6 crore mark, Sunrisers Hyderabad also joined that fray but Mumbai Indians won the battle against all the teams to bring Jofra Archer to the Mumbai Indians and partner him with Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah.

Meanwhile, Archer’s tweet from 2014 went viral after Mumbai Indians picked him at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction. Archer posted a tweet after Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals, in unarguably one of the best matches in the history of T20 cricket, to qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were fighting to be the 4th team to qualify for the playoffs and RR posted 189 runs, batting first. To qualify for the playoffs Mumbai Indians had to complete the chase in the 15th over and they were able to complete the chase with the help of Corey Anderson’s sensational innings and Aditya Tare’s first ball six.

Notably, it’s highly unlikely that the star pacer Jofra Archer will be participating in the Indian Premier League 2022 tournament as he is still recovering from the elbow injury and is not fully fit to compete.

According to the reports, BCCI had made it clear to the franchises that they will be picking Archer at their own risk because they will not be allowed to get a replacement for Archer during the Indian Premier League 2022.
