Early Wickets By Him Help The Spinners In The Middle Overs: Sunil Narine

Umesh Yadav is the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League so far as he has picked up 10 wickets from 5 games.

Most of his wickets have come in the powerplay as he has been very effective with the new ball. Umesh Yadav has bowled on a great line and length and has provided early breakthroughs to his team.

Sunil Narine, the mystery spinner from Trinidad and Tobago heaped praise on Yadav as he said: “The way our fast bowlers are bowling, especially Umi (Umesh Yadav), he’s doing a very good job. Once you come into the attack when the wickets have fallen, makes it easier for us spinners to get in the game.”

Yadav has got a brilliant economy this season as he has not even gone for run a ball, his average is also under 10.

It needs to be mentioned here that Umesh Yadav wasn’t the much sought after pacer in the IPL Mega Auctions as he went unsold twice. It was only in the accelerated bidding process that KKR bid for him.

The experienced pacer has done well so far for the team and he would hope that he can continue the same form. He has been utilised mostly in the powerplay, but he would like to develop his death overs skills as he might be needed to bowl in the slog overs at some point in the tournament.

Umesh Yadav didn’t play a single game in the last season and played only 2 games in IPL 2020. Before that in 2019, he had a pretty average season. His best season came in 2018 for Royal Challengers Bangalore where he picked up 20 wickets in 14 games.
