KKR vs GT: Twitter Goes Gaga As Andre Russell Picks Up 4 Wickets In The 20th Over vs GT
Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell created a unique record against Gujarat Titans here on Saturday as he picked up 4 wickets in the last over of the innings.
Gujarat Titans lost 7 wickets for 23 as they failed to accelerate in the slog overs after having set up a good launchpad.
Andre Russell Picks up 4 Wickets Conceding 5 Runs in Just One Over
Gujarat Titans were 151-5 at the end of 19 overs but then Andre Russell came into the bowl in the last over. On the first delivery he got Abhinav Manohar, on the next delivery he got Lockie Ferguson, on the third delivery, Alzarri Joseph took a single, while the 4th delivery was hit for a boundary by Rahul Tewatia but on the very next delivery he too got out. On the last ball of the innings, Yash Dayal chipped the ball towards Andre Russell who caught it comfortably to finish the innings with 4 wickets.
This isn’t new to Russell in the IPL as he has done something very similar against Mumbai Indians in the last season as he had picked up a 5 wicket haul bowling in the death overs.
Russell has been used by KKR more as a slog over specialist, the plot hasn’t worked at times but their management has stuck with the same plans for some time now.
Andre Russell after the innings, in a conversation with the host broadcaster, said, “Similar to the game against Mumbai in Chennai last year, where I bowled two crucial overs at the end. Wasn’t looking for wickets in the last over, was just trying to keep them under 160”, when asked if he had something similar before.
KKR have lost 3 games in a row, so they would be looking to chase this target and get a win under their belt.
