KKR vs GT: We Conceded Too Many On That Pitch - Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders lost their 4th straight game in IPL 2022. Their skipper Shreyas Iyer wasn’t a happy man as he accepted the fact that his team conceded a little more than what they should have on that pitch.
Earlier in the day, Hardik Pandya returned to captain Gujarat Titans. He became the first captain to win the toss and chose to bat first.
While he was in great form as he scored his third consecutive fifty of the season, his team could manage only 156 runs in their innings. They lost 7 wickets for 23 runs as Andre Russell took 4 wickets in the last over.

We Need To Win Close Games: Shreyas Iyer
KKR after having started the season well have faltered badly as they have lost 4 games on the trot. They haven’t lost by big margins but a loss is still a loss. These losses mean that KKR is sitting in the bottom half of the points table.
Even in the last game, KKR came close but lost against Rajasthan Royals. KKR did well to restrict GT to a low total but their batting failed yet again apart from Andre Russell who was lucky to survive as he got a life as he was caught on the boundary of a no-ball.
He was there till the last over but his West Indies teammate accounted for his dismissal in the last over.

Shreyas Iyer after the game said, “The way we started in the powerplay while chasing and even with the ball. We shouldn’t have conceded that much in these conditions. I think 160-165 was a decent score and we did well to keep them below that. In this format, in all matches that are close, we need to win those and only then we can climb up the ladder. Three out of our last four were very close matches. The energy and vibe are high before the game and it is disappointing that we are unable to convert it.”
Umesh Yadav had started the tournament well but he has been struggling to pick wickets in the powerplay off late. KKR’s batting hasn’t been in the best of forms either as none of their batters have shown any consistency in the tournament.
They would hope to change things around quickly as the sides in the top would be hard to catch up if they continue to falter at crucial stages of the game.
