Umesh Yadav has been a revelation in IPL 2022 as he has been brilliant with the new ball. He has picked wickets in the powerplay for most matches in the season.
He did it against Rajasthan Royals as he picked the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal in the third over of the match.
He Has Been Amongst The Top Wicket Takers This Season
He has been amongst the top wicket-takers in IPL 2022, but unfortunately for his team, they are in the bottom half of the points table.
Umesh Yadav has picked up 14 wickets in 9 games before the start of the game against RR.
He picked up his 15th wicket when he got the wicket of Devdutt Paddikal. He bowled it full to Padikkal, who tried to play it straight down the ground, but the ball swung late, and all Padikkal could do was play the ball up in the air towards Umesh Yadav who took the catch in two attempts to complete a fantastic catch to give his side another fine start in the powerplay.
Devdutt Padikkal has not been in the best of forms this season as he has been pretty inconsistent with the bat. He seems to struggle against the moving ball as he was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj in an earlier game on the same length. That time he got out for 7, against KKR he got out for just 2 off 5 balls.
Earlier in the day, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first. KKR dropped Venkatesh Iyer from the side and brought in Anukul Roy. While Karun Nair returned for Rajasthan Royals.
