Evin Lewis, the batsman for the Lucknow Super Giants, described fellow teammate Ayush Badoni as a “confident guy” after his unbeaten 55-run knock over Chennai Super Kings.

Lucknow Super Giants beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets at Brabourne Stadium after chasing down a huge score of 211 in 19.3 overs.

“This is a fantastic pitch; if you get in, you can score freely.” I simply backed up my abilities and qualities. I believe he is a self-assured individual. In the nets, I spotted him (Badoni). In a post-match press conference, Lewis said, “I just try to keep things simple and want to do the best for the team.”

Evin Lewis (55* off 23) and Ayush Badoni (19* off 9) teamed to pound CSK bowler Shivam Dube for 25 runs in the last over with 34 needed off 12 balls. Lewis also smashed a six in the final over as LSG finished with three balls to spare.

Gautam Gambhir advised me to go with my instincts: Ayush Badoni

When asked if he received any messages from captain KL Rahul or mentor Gautam Gambhir before walking out to bat, the teenager stated it was simply about playing his natural game. He went on to say:

“They just told me to play my natural game since I know what I’m doing.” They realized that if Evin (Lewis) and I were successful in hitting the big shots, we could win. As a result, no such communication was sent. It was just a matter of playing our shots, which we did brilliantly.”

Ayush Badoni had impressed in LSG’s first encounter against the Gujarat Titans (GT), contributing 54 in 41 balls before his cameo against CSK.

Ayush Badoni has been a fantastic find for Lucknow, making a half-century in the opening match of the season and then an unbeaten 19 off 9 balls in the successful chase against CSK to lead his club to a six-wicket victory.
