Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is just 15 runs away from joining the likes of Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the elusive list of T20 cricket, when CSK face off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2022 on March 31, 2022.
Chennai Super Kings lost their opening match of the Indian Premier League season 15 to Kolkata Knight Riders under the captaincy of Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni was the only shining light for the CSK team as his half-century helped the franchise put on a respectable total on the board.
CSK were in a spot of bother when Dhoni arrived at the crease, having lost half their side for just 61 runs. However, Dhoni, along with new captain Ravindra Jadeja, forged an unbeaten 70-run stand to take CSK to a respectable score of 131/5.
MS Dhoni In Line To Become Only The 5th Indian To Reach 7000 Runs In T20 Cricket
While the Chennai Super Kings prepare to face off against the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants, their former captain MS Dhoni eyes a massive feat in T20 cricket. He is just 15 runs shy of joining the 7000-run club in T20 cricket and before him, only four other Indians have achieved this feat.
Before Dhoni, the four Indians to achieve the 7000 T20 runs mark are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and his CSK teammate Robin Uthappa.
Here’s the list of Indian players with the most runs in T20s:
1.Virat Kohli – 10,326 runs
2. Rohit Sharma – 9,936 runs
3. Shikhar Dhawan – 8,818 runs
4. Robin Uthappa – 7,070 runs
5. MS Dhoni – 6,985 runs
Virat Kohli is the fifth-highest run-getter in the T20s globally, with West Indies’ Chris Gayle leading the chart at 14,562 runs in the format. Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, and Aaron Finch are in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place respectively.
Lucknow Super Giants will also be looking for their maiden win in the IPL 2022 as they lost their debut bout to fellow newcomers Gujarat Titans led by Hardik Pandya.
