LSG vs CSK: There Was A Lot Of Dew, We Will Have To Practice With Wet Ball - Ravindra Jadeja After 6-wicket Loss To LSG
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ravindra Jadeja was disappointed with the way his team performed on the field but also mentioned the presence of dew played a huge part in their 6-wicket defeat to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday.
After putting up 210 on the board, CSK failed to defend the total. LSG was boosted by fifties from Quinton de Kock and Evin Lewis, the latter in particular ensuring his team crossed the line.
It is the sixth-highest successful run chase in IPL history and one that will sting CSK. This is also the first occasion where they have lost their opening two matches in IPL history.
“We had a very good start, but in the fielding, you have to take catches to win matches. We could have taken those chances. There was a lot of dew, the ball was not sticking to the hands, will have to practice with the wet ball.”
“We batted brilliantly in the top six, the wicket was good to bat on, as a bowling unit we have to execute our plans,” Jadeja said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
There were a few positives to take for Chennai from the game. Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali were excellent with the bat at the top while MS Dhoni seems to have regained his finishing touches. The one thing they will need to focus on is their bowling lineup.
CSK (1st innings) – 210/7 in 20 overs
Robin Uthappa – 50 (27)
Moeen Ali – 49 (30)
Ravi Bishnoi – 2/24 in four overs
LSG (2nd innings) – 211/4 in 19.3 overs
Quinton de Kock – 61 (45)
Evin Lewis – 55 (23)
Dwaine Pretorius – 2/31 in four overs
