Dinesh Karthik has been having a brilliant outing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2022 as he has played some amazing knocks in the role of a finisher. This has led to India batting legend Sunil Gavaskar backing him to do a similar job for the Indian team in the ICC T20 World Cup to be held later in the year in Australia.

Karthik has been in excellent form for RCB, scoring 197 runs at a strike rate of 209.57 with one half-century and an average of 197.00. He has reinvented himself as a finisher, as it was the job that was given to him by the RCB management after AB de Villiers called time on his playing career.

And ahead of Match 31 of IPL 2022 where RCB take on Lucknow Super Giants, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Complex Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday (April 19) evening, Gavaskar opined that Karthik will be the player to watch out for.

Dinesh Karthik Is Just Changing The Complexion Of The Game With His Performance: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar believes RCB’s wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is someone, who is capable of changing the complexion of the game with his batting exploits alone, which should earn him a recall to the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played in Australia later this year.

“Of course, he’ll be the RCB player to watch out for in the game against Lucknow. He’s just changing the complexion of the game with his performance. He’s doing it for his team. He’s doing it for his team. He said he wants to be a part of the Indian Team for the T20 World Cup,” Gavaskar said in the Cricket Live show on Star Sports, the official broadcaster of IPL 2022.

Karthik has not played for the Indian team since the 2019 World Cup and by the time the 2022 T20 World Cup rolls in, he will be 37 years old. But Gavaskar believes age is just a number and it should not stand in the way of his national recall.

“What I am saying is don’t look at his age, just look at what he’s producing. He’s doing the job that you can expect him to do at number 6 or 7 at the World Cup,” Gavaskar said.
