IPL 2022: Former England off-spinner Graeme Swann feels that Mumbai Indians need to be ultra-aggressive in their approach if they have to win their remaining games.
Mumbai Indians have lost 4 games on the trot and are on the verge of early elimination if they continue to lose games.
Mumbai Indians Need To Take A Leaf Out Of Chennai Super Kings Playing Style: Graeme Swann
Chennai Super Kings who had also lost their opening 4 games, played an aggressive brand of cricket against Royal Challengers Bangalore and found their first two points of the season, winning the game by 23 runs.
Mumbai Indians are in a similar position. They too have lost 4 games and it doesn’t look good for them at the moment.
The five-time champions have been lacking penetration in their bowling. While Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard haven’t been at their best so far this season.
“Mumbai Indians basically need to take a template from what CSK did against RCB and copy that going forward, If they can go with an ultra-aggressive intent, they will be able to win their upcoming matches,” the former English off-spinner said.
“Any coach or any captain would demand from his players to show more intensity (on the field), more hard work and want them to show that they mean it (when it comes winning)even if you’ve lost a few games. So the body language is a good way to go,” he further added.
Mumbai Indians went in with just two foreigners in their last game. It’d be interesting to see if they go with the same combination or if they give chances to the likes of Tim David, Riley Meredith, and Tymal Mills.
Daniel Sams is unlikely to start as he was taken for 35 runs in a single over by Pat Cummins. Although Jasprit Bumrah did come in his defense, it’d be a brave call if gets another game.
