MI vs RR: Explained - What Are These Markings Behind The Stumps
The first game of the double-header on Saturday got underway between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
During the match, there were several markings seen behind the stumps on both sides of the wicket. These markings are made by the bowlers for their run-up measurements.
Since each bowler has a different one, these markings were spread across both sides.
Meanwhile, MI opted to make no changes to their playing XI after the loss to Delhi Capitals. Suryakumar Yadav remained unavailable as he was unfit despite recovering fully from the thumb fracture.
Rajasthan was asked to bat first on a sunny afternoon in Mumbai and they made the most of the batting conditions. Jos Buttler looked in sublime touch while Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer contributed with crisp cameos.
Buttler scored his second IPL hundred as Rajasthan inched closer to the 200-run mark. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers after a rather poor outing in the season opener.
MI playing XI:
Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Anmolpreet Singh, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills, Basil Thampi.
RR playing XI:
Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna.
