MS Dhoni Hands Over Chennai Super Kings' Captaincy To Ravindra Jadeja Ahead Of IPL 2022
Ahead of the IPL 2022 season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has announced a major change in their squad. MS Dhoni has handed over the captaincy mantle to the all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, and will be continuing as a player for the franchise.
Dhoni has been the captain of CSK since the inception of the IPL back in 2008. It will be the first time that Dhoni will be playing under a captain in the IPL. CSK confirmed the news on its official website.
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” the statement read.
This brings an end to Dhoni’s captaincy stint in the IPL. He led Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for two seasons as well, apart from leading CSK. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, the Yellow Brigade has won four IPL titles, including the IPL 2021 season.
