Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants Match Preview, IPL 2022, Match 26, MI vs LSG- MI vs LSG, the 26th match of Tata IPL 2022 is scheduled to be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from 3:30 PM IST on 16 April 2022.

SRH vs KKR Dream11 Prediction

Mumbai Indians have lost five consecutive matches on the trot in the ongoing IPL 2022, and with 4 losses more, they will be out of the race to determine the top four for playoffs. However, Mumbai Indians have returned from this position to win the IPL trophy previously. This shall boost their confidence at least a bit.

They have found two uncapped talented middle-order batters in Proteas batter Dewald Brevis and uncapped Indian batter Tilak Varma. Suryakumar Yadav is also playing exceptionally, but the senior players Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma have not been fired so far, due to which Mumbai Indians sit in the last place in the points table. Apart from this, Mumbai Indians lack depth in the bowling department, with pacer Jofra Archer not available to play in the tournament.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants runs a fabulous campaign with 3 wins in 5 matches. The two matches they lost were close encounters that could have gone either way. Ayush Badoni, the find of the season, along with Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis form a deep batting line-up for the team.

Lucknow’s bowling unit is equally excellent, with Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Jason Holder not giving away much to the batters. The only concern they face is KL Rahul’s inconsistency and below-par strike rate in the tournament. Going further, the Lucknow skipper needs to rise up to the occasion and guide his team to the victory.

Mumbai has struggled to find the right 11 and often played just 2 or 3 overseas players despite spending heavily on overseas stars for the first time in many years in IPL 2022 mega auctions. While the batters have fired, it’s the bowling combination that’s been a worry.

Mumbai has suffered successive defeats to Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings. The Mumbai Indians’ team combination for Saturday’s match may look new with the likes of Fabian Allen and Riley Meredith getting a look in.

Lucknow, meanwhile, opened their season with a defeat to fellow newcomers Gujarat Titans but had a mini winning streak following victories over Chennai Super Kings, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals. However, in their most recent outing, Lucknow suffered a loss to Rajasthan Royals in a close match, which also saw Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis make an impressive return with the bat.

Mumbai Indians fought hard but fell 12 runs short of Punjab Kings’ total of 198 and now have suffered their fifth loss in as many games in IPL 2022. The doors are closing in for the five-time champions as they face early elimination from the playoff race.

Mumbai Indians remain the only winless side in the tournament now that Chennai Super Kings opened their account with a 23-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore after they had also lost their first four matches. Mumbai Indians have to win 8 of their next 9 matches to qualify for playoffs.

In 2015, Mumbai Indians had lost 5 of their first 6 matches; they then won 7 of their next 8 matches, qualified for the playoffs, and even went on to win the title. However, that was an 8-team IPL and this season there are 10 teams playing.

Bought by Mumbai Indians at the mega auction in Bengaluru for a hefty Rs 8.25 crore, Singaporean international Tim David, played just two games this season against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals scoring 12 and 1 respectively. MI replaced all-rounder Ramandeep Singh with fast bowler Tymal Mills against Punjab, a decision that left many surprised.

The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians need to look beyond West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, who hasn’t fired with the bat or ball yet in IPL 2022. One of the four retentions made by Mumbai Indians ahead of the mega auctions, Kieron Pollard has been a complete flop this season. In the five matches so far, Kieron Pollard accumulated just 57 runs and picked up just one wicket. Lucknow may field an unchanged XI against Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Tim David, Fabian Allen, Murugan Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith, Jaydev Unadkat.

Lucknow Super Giants Predicted XI: KL Rahul (Captain), Quinton de Kock (wicketkeeper), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, Krishnappa Gowtham, Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi.
