Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their resurgence and registered another convincing win in the IPL 2022 season. They defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 7 wickets in their day game on Sunday.
After winning the toss for the 6th time in a row, Kane Williamson put Punjab in to bat first. They were without their regular skipper, Mayank Agarwal, and his absence was felt at the top of the order too.
The Punjab team was down 61/4 in the 8th over with Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan having to rebuild. The former was brilliant during his 60-run knock but Shahrukh struggled before being dismissed.
Eventually, they were blown away by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik. The latter even took 3 wickets in the final over, which was also a maiden. It is only the third instance of a 20th over being a maiden in IPL history.
In response, SRH openers, Abhishek Sharma and Williamson couldn’t reproduce their magic from the game against CSK but their experienced overseas pair of Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran saw out the easy run chase of 152.
Rahul Chahar was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS but his lone efforts weren’t enough as Sunrisers registered their fourth win on the bounce. They moved up to 4th place on the points table while Punjab slipped to 7th.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to PBKS vs SRH:
Tremendous all round performance by #SRH. Punjab batting stuttered badly in second half of the innings, scoring about 20 fewer than seemed likely, which made the run chase easier. SRH now top of the table and looking irrepressible

Hyderabad has reached number 4 at points table, but has same number of points as of number 1 team. #SRH
