In a major development, David Warner and Rashid Khan have both been released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the next edition of IPL.

David Warner endured a lean run with the bat for SRH in IPL 2021. He couldn’t give ideal starts at the top of the order, something which he had done consistently for the franchise for a number of years.

Warner’s poor numbers with the bat had a severe impact on the team’s performance in the tournament. For the first time in the history of the tournament, SRH succumbed to the bottom of the points table, managing only 3 wins in 14 matches.

The 2021 edition was, in fact, the only poor season with the bat for Warner in IPL. He has been the standout batsman for SRH in the Indian Premier League and also led the team to lift the IPL title in 2016. Warner has played 150 matches in the Indian Premier League and has managed to score 5449 runs at an average of 41.59.

One of the best spinners in world cricket right now, Rashid Khan too might play for a different franchise next year. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Rashid Khan in 2017 for a whopping amount of 4 Crores. He made a lot of heads turn in his debut season for the franchise with his bowling exploits.

Khan picked 17 wickets in 14 matches in his debut season. With his outstanding spells for the next four seasons, Rashid Khan helped SRH become one of the most consistent outfits in IPL.
