Afghanistan bowler Rashid Khan is a wily leg-spin bowler who can deceive the batters within a fraction of seconds with the ability to bowl stern googly deliveries and leg-breakers. The 23-year-old is currently ranked fifth in the ICC bowlers rankings in the T20I format.

Rashid rose to prominence during his teenage days and was the lynchpin of the Afghanistan national team. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Rashid became the youngest bowler to claim 400 wickets in the T20 format (including franchise cricket and T20 Internationals). He joined the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Imran Tahir to enter the elite club of picking 400 T20 scalps.

On February 19, Rashid claimed his first hat-trick in T20 Internationals against Ireland. In the course of his impressive spell of 5/27, the leg-spinner picked four wickets in four balls (not in one over) to help Afghanistan win by 32 runs and sweep Ireland 3-0 in the T20I series.

Rashid also picked hat-tricks in the Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers against Sydney Sixers in 2020 and for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Jamaica Tallawahs.

After playing five seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad (2017-2021), Rashid was signed by Gujarat Tirans for the same amount (INR 15 crore) as that of skipper Hardik Pandya. Ahead of the IPL 2022 season, Rashid was named the vice-captain of the new IPL team.

Rashid made his IPL captaincy debut in the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as Hardik suffered a groin injury.

Rashid led the charge with the bat as he smashed 40 runs in 21 balls to keep the Titans in the hunt for the win. He hit 23 runs in five balls off Chris Jordan, including three sixes and a four as Gujrat clinched the game by three wickets.
