RCB vs CSK: Have Tried To Improve My Sequencing - Harshal Patel After Winning MoTM vs CSK

Harshal Patel returned to his best as he helped Royal Challengers Bangalore get their first win in 4 games. He picked up 3 wickets for 35 runs.

This was an important win for RCB as it has now increased their chances to qualify for the playoffs.

Harshal Patel only came into the bowl the 13th over, till then Chennai Super Kings had a good start and Devon Conway was going pretty well from one end. But as soon as Patel came into the bowl he ensured that the batter at the other end doesn’t get free deliveries to hit boundaries.

Harshal was hit for a six by Moeen Ali on the first delivery of the 18th over but he got his revenge on the very next ball. In his previous over he had accounted for Ravindra Jadeja who has had a terrible time with the bat in this season of the IPL. In the last over of the match, Harshal Patel got the wicket of Dwaine Pretorius and sealed the deal for his side.

Earlier in the day, RCB posted 173 runs on the board courtesy of contributions from Mahipal Lamror, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik in the middle order.

Harshal Patel on his performance said, “I think in the first over, the slower balls I tried to bowl it into the wicket but it kind of floated onto the bat. I have been trying to improve my sequencing.”

I am glad I was able to come back. To both the left-handers, I was asked to bowl wide outside off so that they hit to the larger side of the ground. One thing is to need to be aware of the conditions and then what the batter is trying to do. Then you should know what kind of balls you can execute. Till the time you have clarity when you are at the top of the mark, you should be fine. When people are waiting for the slower balls, my hard length balls and my yorkers are released.”

RCB would hope that Patel continues to deliver for them in the same way in the remaining games.
