Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered their 6th win of the IPL 2022 season and broke their 3-match losing streak to enter the top four on the points table for this season.

After being asked to bat first by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Bangalore got off to a good start courtesy of a 60-run stand between Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Du Plessis’ wicket sparked a collapse, however, in typical RCB fashion.

They slipped to 79/3 with Kohli and Glenn Maxwell being dismissed in a space of a few deliveries. It was left to Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror to rebuild and the youngsters did just that.

While Patidar played well for his 15-ball 21, Lomror stole the show with a crisp 42 including a couple of excellent sixes. RCB finally finished with 173/8 on the board after a late Dinesh Karthik cameo.

In response, CSK’s innings mirrored that of their opponents’. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway stitched a 50-run stand before three wickets fell back-to-back-to-back, putting Chennai in trouble.

Harshal got back to his wicket-taking ways, ending with 3 wickets.

Moeen Ali played well in the company of Conway but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni were the last hope for CSK but once they fell, the writing was on the wall. The victory takes Bangalore to 4th place on the table with 6 wins in 11 matches.
