Virat Kohli returned to form as he scored 73 off 54 balls against Gujarat Titans and helped his side notch up an important win taking them to the third position on the points table. RCB’s passage to the playoffs is almost final unless Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians in their last league game of the season.

With this score, Virat Kohli has now gone up to 309 runs for RCB with two fifties in IPL 2022 so far. However, Kohli found form at the right time with his side knocking on the door for the playoffs.

RCB Director of Cricket Mike Hesson was pleased with Kohli’s return to form and welcomed him with open arms. The former RCB skipper had a real struggle with the bat before this knock throughout the season. He also scored two first-ball ducks earlier in the season to cap off a tough lean patch with the willow.

Hesson spoke about his bizarre modes of dismissals this season before saying that he had a bit of luck on his return to form.

“It started in Pune, and then from that point on, he got run-out a couple of times, obviously the one that went off the hip – he pretty much found each and every way to get out.

“So he’s right, there certainly wasn’t a pattern to those dismissals. The fact that he was working so hard in the nets and trying to find that rhythm away from the playing games, away from the contest, allowed him to keep that confidence up,” said Hesson.

He then spoke about Kohli’s luck finally paying off as he scored a brilliant 73 on his return to form. It is essential that he carries on this way for his team in the remaining season.

“But no doubt, when you go through a bit of a patch like that – he’s only human, you know – then you do start to just having the off doubt and wonder when’s your luck is going to turn. So look, little bit luck tonight, but he’s certainly earned it throughout this IPL,” said Hesson in response to a Sportskeeda query.

All the RCB players and fans will now remain glued to their TV sets for the result of the MI vs DC game on Sunday.
