Former Australia women team player Lisa Sthalekar pointed out that Royal Challengers Bangalore have struggled this season owing to the collective failures of their batters.

Former skipper Virat Kohli has been in the limelight for his rough patch with the bat, scoring 236 runs in 13 innings at 19.67 and a strike rate of 113

With 399 runs and a strike rate of 132.56, du Plessis is the highest run-scorer of the team this year. The RCB captain has scored three fifties with his best score being 96 against Lucknow Super Giants.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has amassed 228 runs in 10 innings at 25.33 in the middle-order.

Sthalekar said Kohli is not the only player who has been under fire and stressed the inconsistency of du Plessis and Maxwell that has left RCB in a precarious situation in the IPL 2022 playoffs scenario.

We say this every year about Bangalore. Look at their list, look at their names. The thing for them is that they have just struggled to score runs at the top. They haven’t been consistent enough,” Sthalekar said on Cricbuzz.

Not only Virat but Faf (du Plessis), Glenn Maxwell, You can’t just highlight Virat. There are other players as well who haven’t fired,” she added.

RCB bowlers have been good: Lisa Sthalekar

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has taken 23 scalps in 13 matches at an economy rate of 7.49 and is the leading wicket-taker of the franchise this season.

Hasaranga and pace bowler Harshal Patel have been effective to control runs in the middle overs. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has also supported them well except for his 0/64 against Punjab Kings in their game.

“Their bowlers have been good. Josh Hazlewood went for plenty last game. But (overall) their bowlers have done well, be it Mohammed Siraj or Harshal Patel. (Wanindu) Hasaranga has been excellent. It’s just runs at the top for me,” Sthalekar said.

RCB will take on Gujarat Titans on Thursday (May 18) in a do-or-die clash to keep their IPL 2022 playoffs hope alive.
